Culture and Solidarity

Our History

The Plácido Domingo Foundation was established in 2024 with the aim of preserving and projecting into the future the legacy of an artistic career that has united music, culture, and social commitment for more than four decades. As an institution, the Foundation promotes zarzuela internationally and contributes to human development and well-being through culture, education, and social engagement.

Culture With Purpose

Our purpose is clear: to promote zarzuela worldwide at the highest artistic level, bringing it closer to new generations of artists and audiences, while preserving the cultural legacy of Plácido Domingo and fostering social action through music as a tool for connection, education, and support for those who need it most.

Our Commitment

We create opportunities for artistic, educational, and social development within the Spanish lyric genre, nurturing new generations of talent and championing music education as a tool for personal and social transformation.

Three Lines of Action

Guided by our three pillars, Zarzuela, Legacy, and Social Action, we develop projects that unite artistic excellence, cultural heritage preservation, and social impact.

A Cultural and Humanitarian Reference

We believe in the power of music as a vehicle for personal and social transformation, capable of bringing people closer, fostering inclusion, and strengthening essential human values. We aspire to become a leading cultural and humanitarian institution in the promotion of music, with a special focus on celebrating the richness of zarzuela.

Non Profit Foundation

We are a non profit foundation registered in the Spanish Registry of Foundations under national jurisdiction.
